Company History:
The Tallon™ system was in development for over two years and is the brainchild of New Zealander, Peter Marshall. A life-long passion for boating New Zealand’s coastlines, lakes and rivers led Marshall to develop the simple but highly functional accessory system, improving the ergonomics and utility of marine craft.
Tallon™ is the first to plug a gap in the supply of a fast, flexible stylish and strong accessory system for the broadest range of marine and RV accessories. No other company in the marketplace has successfully produced an accessory system that delivers on design, versatility, ease of use and price. Acessory options are almost endless, with the recent integration of third party systems such as RAM Mount. Developments such as this means consumers can personalise and set up their boats and RVs in almost any way they wish to.
Tallon™ officially launched into the Australasian market at the Auckland International Boat Show at Auckland’s Viaduct harbour in March 2007. Since then, Tallon™ has had a significant presence at the Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show (Auckland) and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (Gold Coast, Australia).
Tallon™ has had the distinction of introducing a unique and innovative product into the Australasian marine markets, the success of which has led to major distribution agreements on both sides of the Tasman, including high street retail distribution in New Zealand.
Tallon™ launched their products into the US market at the IBEX in Miami, Florida in October 2007, winning the prestigious IBEX Innovation Award for Advancements in OEM Equipment and Engines. They were selected from a list of 79 entrants from around the world in the ‘Fixture and Fittings’ category, where entrants were judged based on ‘…practicality, cost effectiveness, benefit to the marine industry/customer and innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured’.
Since their success at IBEX 07, Tallon™ has secured distributors in the US, Canada, UK & Ireland, Europe and Turkey - as well as setting up a distribution and customer service centre in the US. This complements their existing distribution network in Australasia with Brunswick (Mercury Marine).
Throughout 2008, Tallon™ continued to expand its distribution networks in the Americas, while continually developing new and innovative accessories to meet markets’ changing needs. This includes the prestigious Pacific Collection of accessories designed to meet the needs of the high-end market, which includes the Champagne and Drink Holders in a polished stainless finish.
In the later part of 2008, Tallon™ released their new RIB Receiver system. Another first, the Tallon RIB Receiver is the world’s only accessory mount specifically designed for installation directly into the tube of RIBs and Inflatable boats. This means that for the very first time, RIB owners can quickly mount and swap-out an extensive range of accessories, such as swim ladders, dive bottle holders, rod holders, tables and drink holders - allowing them to set up their inflatables in the same way as a rigid hulled boat.
This advancement has been closely followed in 2009 by the introduction of the RAM Mount based accessories to the kayak market. This latest step has given kayakers the ability to engage in many of the same activities as power boaters – e.g. utilise rod holders, fish finders and bait tables, etc. - at a fraction of the cost, while still being able pursue their kayaking interest. In support of the introduction of their products into these new market sectors, Tallon plans to attend RV and kayak shows in the US and Europe later in the year.
