Customer Background

James Barclay and his girlfriend Karen live in Westmere Auckland and use their 9.2m Farr Yacht most weekends in the summer – ‘…not quite as often in the winter!’ adds James.

James is in software sales and deals mainly in internet based marketing software used in the banking sectors across the Asia Pacific Region.  Karen works with a consultancy company as a SAP integration trainer.

James says:
‘Normally it’s just the 2 of us that sail.  We use our Tallon™ System and accessories exclusively for drinks at present.  We looked around the market for something that was of high quality, looked good and was easy to remove when sailing.  We didn’t like the look of the other (mainly plastic) options that were available.’

Self-installation was easy for James too: ‘A brave builder friend and I took on the job!  But it was pretty straightforward and only took us a few minutes.  Easy…!’

Boating Problem

  • Conventional accessories remain in place when sailing and become an obstruction around the cockpit.
  • James and Karen demand that their accessories are high quality.
  • Functionality was also important to James:  ‘We don’t want bottles and glasses flying around the boat!’

Boating  Solution

  • Tallon™ accessories can be removed and stowed, leaving just the flush faceplate.  This wins back valuable space and enhances the boat’s clean lines.
  • James and Karen think their Tallon™ Receivers with the 316 Stainless faceplate option, along with their multi-holder, wine glass and bottle holder accessories, are of excellent quality.
  • The Tallon™ system is highly functional.  James and Karen can move their wine glass and drinks holders around their boat easily, according to where they need them.  ‘We like to have them fitted next to us in the cockpit during dinner, for instance…’

What’s Next?

James has discovered that powerboats usually have good lighting options but this is often not the case with yachts.

For ambient, overhead lighting whilst dining, James has his eye on Tallon’s soon to be released Power Bridge.  Also on his wish list is the Bridge’s sister product, the Plug-In Adaptor.  Both simply slot onto a Tallon™ Powered Receiver allowing boat owners to either terminate electrical accessories - or run spotlights, PDAs, mobile phones, handheld GPS & VHFs, or any other plug-in 12/24v accessory!  Watch this space…
